I got the Worldwide Ward Cookbook for my birthday and have been having a blast using it. This roll recipe is from it and is the best I have ever made so I wanted to share!!!
3TB yeast
1C warm water
1 1/2 c milk, scalded and cooled
2 eggs
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
2 tsp salt
7 c flour
Sprinkle yeast on top of water; set aside. In a large mixing bowl or kitchen aide, pour in milk, eggs, sugar, shortening and salt. Blend together at high speed. Stir yeast and water, then add to the other mixture. Blend in 3 cups of flour and mix at highest speed for 5 minutes. Gradually add in 3 more cups of flour. Dough will be sticky. Turn dough out on a floured surface and knead lightly until no longer sticky to the touch. Place in a greased bowl, cover and allow to rise until doubled. Shape as desired for rolls, place on baking sheet and allow to rise again. Bake at 350 until golden ( 15-20min). Enjoy!
