I know a lot of people who do a Thankful Thursday post especially around this time of year so I thought I would join in...a day late.
Today I am thankful for my ancestors. I have been getting very involved in family and church history lately and I love it. I have an ancestor who kept a diary as he crossed the planes, lived in Salt Lake and then traveled to California. This diary has been published and after years of searching and begging, I finally got a copy of my own.
It has been so interesting to read about his daily life while traveling and the early days of Salt Lake. Recently I read about where he built his first home and I was determined to find where that was in modern downtown. After doing much research online we decided to go up to the Church History museum and see what they had. After searching around and talking to many helpful people I found it! His home was a couple blocks from Temple Square and now West High School sits on his property.
I would have loved to have more time to search through things but due to whiny kids and a parking meter time limit, we had to hurry. Maybe I can convince Dave to take me on a date back to the museum, lame I know!!
Anyways the point of this post was that I am grateful for my ancestor who crossed the plains and faced numerous hardships for me.

It's crazy how much we can learn from the past huh? How neat that you got to go! Museums sre not lame!
Once kids turn 4 they don't qualify for Kids on the Move. So her age disqualified her automatically. I'm so glad that it's helping Michael!
