A New Me

I realized today that I have really changed in the past few months. Awhile ago I posted all about going green. This has become my new obsession that I never ever thought I would have. Life was just easier doing things the "normal" way and I didn't see a need to change. I am not an extremest or anything but I am very into doing things more natural and having less chemicals around my family. Another way I think I have changed is in wanting to do a lot more things by hand. There are things that I would rather make than buy such as bread and jam. There is just such a satisfaction that comes from doing things on your own. And not just food, I really enjoy making crafty things. The biggest thing that Dave and I are so excited to do on our own is a house in the future. With all of Daves construction experience we will be able to do it probably 99% on our own. Yes it will take a long time but we will save money, have bonding time and we would know exactly how everything was built and have pride in it. Some times I wish that I lived back in older days. Where everthing was done by hand and there wasn't as much of a busy hussle always going on. Does that make sense? Just seems like a lot of things were simpler and I am trying to make my life like that in my own ways. Just forcusing on the important things and cutting everything else out. And sometimes I wish I lived on a farm. Some of you reading this are probably laughing because you have known me growing up and that is the last thing you ever thought you would hear me say. I really mean it though. It just seems like a peaceful down to earth way of living. But I don't think I could really do it because I crave being near people. I need to be able to actually walk to a neighbors house. Anyways, I hope this all makes sense.

Well I totally get ya on some of the stuff. I just canned almost 30 bottles of fruit and vegetables this week. Wow! It felt awesome. Sort of empowering, in a humble homemakey way, ya know? And I love making homemade strawberry freezer jam. MMMMM...nothin better. Love ya!

I have never made my own bread. Is that so sad or what? I don't even know home! But, I am taking some cooking classes next semester... maybe I'll learn then!
